★★★★★A Charming Christmas Classic, November 17, 2011
Santa and the Little Teddy Bear is the charming tale of Bilbo, the teddy bear who has been passed over (yet again) as the shop in which he resides closes for business on Christmas Eve. Bilbo’s only dream is to become a special gift on Christmas. But over time, as Bilbo has waited on the shelves to be purchased, he has become “damaged goods.” Now on the clearance shelf, with great sadness, he realizes that yet another Christmas shopping season has come and gone… and he fears he may never have the opportunity to bring someone Christmas joy. When Santa arrives in Bilbo’s shop, Bilbo is ecstatic! With great delight, he is taken on a grand adventure as he helps Santa with his Christmas Eve tasks. Bilbo travels around the world, helping Santa deliver presents to good little boys and girls everywhere. As they make their journey, Bilbo experiences various cultures and landmarks, while being reminded of the true meaning of Christmas. Christmas carols, some classic and some obscure, are skillfully woven within the text of this beautifully written and illustrated book.
Santa and the Little Teddy Bear, written and illustrated by Peter John Lucking, earns the Literary Classics Seal of Approval.

Amazon: SANTA & THE LITTLE TEDDY BEAR
“Hi! My name is Bilbo, I’m The Little Teddy Bear. I was born in Teddybärstein just south of Berlin, Germany. Oh, how I dream of being a special Christmas Present. I know it will be this year, I know, I just know I will make someone happy this year.”
I vaguely remember the whirr of a sewing machine, the vibrating, jolting, stifling darkness of a box. Light, a jolly face thrust into mine “You will do just fine,” this strange looking creature said. He turned out to be the shopkeeper! He was old and wizened, with a graying beard and round glasses, a very kind man.
He put me in pride of place, atop the window display of Christmas wrappings ribbons and bows. From this early age, I had a dream, a wish of being a special Christmas present.
What a strange world I saw through the window. Strange looking creatures of all colors and size, scurrying to and fro in a whirlwind of fabric. Jumping in and out of Bright shinny things, they seemed to adore, cars they called them. Can you imagine that!
Bilbo’s pictorial transformation in the book from a half price forlorn teddy bear to a shinning golden knight, reminds us to look beyond the surface, to look at the heart within.
Santa, Santa Claus, Saint Nicholas
A mentor, a wonderworker. He has a reputation for secret gift-giving. He is a patron saint of sailors, merchants, archers, thieves, children and students. He is wise, an elderly, stately man with white hair and a long full beard. He is conscience of eating healthy, and the benefits associated with good habits, so he has slimmed down considerably. He has a great sense of humor and he loves his Bilbo the Little Teddy Bear and all his elves with all his heart.
We love to sing as we soar on magical stars, we’re quite the choir. We love to ski! Donder and Blitzen, Thunder and Lightning, will surprise you in there, Tu Tu’s along the way!
Wham, whoosh–swoosh, smash–crash! My muddling gyrations and overenthusiastic zigzags will cajole bunches of bountiful belly laughs from you. I love puzzles, how about you? I play a small part in this tale but wait and see my story unfold in, Bilbo’s Adventures: Bilbo Clowns around Down Under.
I love to jingle and jangle a round. To sing and dance boisterously, but most of all I love caroling. Will you sing, “Away in a Manger,”with me?
“My name is Jack. I’m a bully, a very devious chap. I’m mean and nasty. I enjoy playing games, dastardly deeds, spiteful tricks to upset all those around me. Wait and see what chaos I bring!”
The Countries of the world
We play a large part in this story. From the ghostly-cloaked forests and fields of England, to Africa’s Beat of a drum, you will get to explore our cultures, carols and Christmas customs.
